CORINNE HALL
Born in Gosford to sports-loving parents, Corinne Hall developed a passion for cricket very early in life. The path was clear to her and regular first grade appearances for Bankstown Women’s Cricket Club, where she won six straight premierships, would help her secure a spot with the NSW Breakers squad in the Women’s National Cricket League. An inaugural member of the Hobart Hurricanes in the first Women’s Big Bash League in 2015, Corinne has appeared for the team in every incarnation since, taking the reins of the captaincy in WBBL03.
A self-taught artist, Corinne began drawing at a young age, initially just to give them as gifts to friends. Through a variety of mediums, including pencil, pen, graphite pencil, charcoal and paint, Corinne’s observational works come from her heart, inspired by people who have achieved something truly great in their lives, whether that be in the sporting arena or making a stand in life for something they believe in. When not on the cricket pitch, you will find her outdoors, camping near a warm fire or near the ocean on a hot summer’s day.
MICHAEL RANDALL
Michael Randall has built a career spanning two decades as a writer, journalist, digital producer and social media whizz currently working in the sports department at Melbourne’s biggest newspaper, the Herald Sun.
Michael is proud to champion women’s sport and is eager to shine a light on great female athletes, both past and present. A lover of hoops, Michael is an avid watcher of the NBA and NBL, lives for 4 am Monday morning wake-ups for the NFL and will watch any televised cricket match.
He has also given back to the community through his committee work at his local cricket and hockey clubs, each of which he has been a member for nearly 30 years.
An ode to some of Australia’s most cherished female athletes. These sportswomen have blazed a trail for their sisterhood, not just through their own achievements in their chosen sport, but through their unwavering conviction off the field as well. With illustrations by Corinne Hall, formerly Hobart Hurricanes captain now playing for Sydney Thunder in the Women's Big Bash League, who honours each athlete through her unique artistic talents.
“This excellent reference book documenting the women who paved the way in Australian sport will be a valuable resource in every school library. ”
